TIES Application Process

For prospective TIES participants:
The Teacher Institute for the Experience of Science (TIES) brings middle school teachers from across subject areas to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to learn about the culture of biomedical research. TIES offers teachers an exposure to research conducted at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC; Beaverton, OR) and the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (Portland, OR). Participating teachers observe and interview researchers as they develop insight into the process of scientific investigation. Ultimately, teachers incorporate their new understanding of the culture of biomedical research into their classroom practices.

Our 2010 TIES program is specifically designed for rural middle school teachers. For more information about the rural program, including deadlines and incentives, please visit this page.

Applications for the 2010 program will be available by January 1, 2010.
