Calling all middle school teachers: Bring real science into your classroom!
The Teacher Institute for the Experience of Science (TIES) is a unique immersion experience in the culture of biomedical research designed especially for middle school teachers in Oregon.
 |
As TIES participants, you spend time observing OHSU researchers in their labs and clinics, gaining first-hand insight into the culture of biomedical research. You tackle ethical issues such as “what are the regulations that govern the use of animals in research?” and “what does it mean to be a human subject in a clinical trial?”. During TIES you create resources for your classroom, bringing your experience of biomedical research alive for your students. |
| Even if you don’t take part in TIES, you can bring some of the benefits of TIES to your classroom by downloading materials developed by the program’s participants.
These include profiles written about OHSU researchers and their teams, and activities designed for the middle school classroom.
