Guidelines for TIES Scientist Presenters

As a presenter in the TIES program, we ask you to go beyond your normal PowerPoint seminar or chalk talk.  Although these formats work well for scientific presentations, we have found that the TIES participants get most out of the sessions when there is an engaging conversation with the scientists rather than a didactic presentation. We would like to propose two main formats for the presentations:

Meet the Scientist:
Focuses on the context, rather than content, of your current work and career; 3 PowerPoint slides max.
10 minutes of introduction to your topic
30 minutes interview by the teachers

Research Briefing:
Focuses on the content and method of one of your research questions.
25 minutes of briefing
15 minutes interview by the teachers
